I have worked in product design for the last 25 years, from startups and large corporate banking, to IT consulting and founder of an award-winning, boutique design firm.
Most recently, I served a team of 18 researchers, designers, front-end developers, and content strategists on a large SAFe® Agile program, where we received the highest UX maturity rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid's HCD Center of Excellence.

I’ve wanted to write this article for some time to chronicle my own journey in design leadership, and some of the issues and adjustments that I’ve faced personally.
Everyone has their own experience working with UX professionals: good, bad or indifferent. Unfortunately, the impact of a negative experience with UX has an exponential effect over time.
